Have you ever watched geese fly in a V formation? Scientists tell us that as each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following. Together, they can fly much further than if each bird flew on its own. This simple yet profound act of nature offers a beautiful analogy for the Christian faith and the importance of walking this journey with other believers.
The Bible emphasizes the value of Christian community. After all, our faith is not meant to be a solo endeavor but a shared journey. The early believers understood this well. The Bible, Book of Acts 2:46-47 (NLT) paints a picture of the early church: "They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved." They thrived in unity, growing not only in numbers but in faith.
The writer of Hebrews gives us further counsel, "And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near" (Bible, Book of Hebrews 10:25, NLT). When we gather with other believers, whether it's in a traditional church setting, a home group, or even an online platform, we have opportunities to learn, to worship, to serve, and to be encouraged.
Furthermore, we find in the Bible, Book of Galatians 6:2 (NLT), "Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ." In community, we can lean on each other during challenging times and celebrate together in times of joy. Just like the geese, we provide uplift for one another, making the journey more manageable and meaningful.
As you embark on this journey with Jesus, we encourage you to connect with a local church or a group of believers. Their experiences, wisdom, and faith can enrich your understanding of God, and in turn, you will contribute uniquely to the community. Remember, we are better together, flying in formation, helping each other along the way.
With blessings and joy 🙏 🎉
